Dreams of Hope

Time my love, has played its cosmic joke
Bringing us together on the dreams of hope
Leaving the souls today, standing alone and broke
With our own wretched demons to cope

The season of youth masked the many flaws
Pausing for seconds on tender moments and silent applause
Yet today we stand, many questions unanswered, in claws
Unsure, what got resolved, what torments, what was?

The fleeting minutes of our happy togetherness
Quickly dissolved in the blur of what came after
We stood in the shadows of a darkening future
While far ahead, another lonely day waited for us

With no clarity what I am searching for in this twilight
With no idea which fork in the path to take
I walk silently, with no destination in sight
